Roma in Europe
The Roma, often called Roma or Romani people, are an ethnic group originating from northern India who migrated to Europe around a thousand years ago. They have a distinct language, culture, and traditions, but have faced historical discrimination, stereotypes, and social exclusion across many European countries. Today, Roma communities are scattered throughout Europe, with populations in countries like Romania, Bulgaria, Spain, and Hungary. Despite challenges, many Roma continue to preserve their cultural identity, arts, and customs, contributing to the diverse social fabric of Europe. Efforts are ongoing to promote integration, equality, and respect for Roma rights.
