Roma Holocaust
The Roma Holocaust, also known as the Porajmos, refers to the systematic persecution and murder of Roma people by the Nazi regime during World War II. Between 1940 and 1945, hundreds of thousands of Roma—an ethnic group with their own culture and language—were targeted for their ethnicity. They were subjected to deportation, imprisonment, forced labor, and mass killings in extermination camps, with many perishing in gas chambers. The Roma Holocaust remains a tragic chapter in history that highlights the brutal discrimination and violence faced by the Roma community under Nazi rule.
