Roles and identity

Roles are the positions or responsibilities individuals hold within a specific context, like a parent, employee, or student. Identity is the understanding and sense of who a person truly is, including their beliefs, values, and traits. Together, roles shape how we behave in different situations, while identity reflects our core self. For example, someone might be a teacher (role) and also see themselves as compassionate and curious (aspects of their identity). Roles influence our actions, but our identity encompasses our broader sense of self across different contexts.
