Rohingya genocide

The Rohingya genocide refers to the systematic persecution and violence against the Rohingya Muslim minority in Myanmar's Rakhine State, starting around 2017. The Myanmar military and local groups carried out mass killings, sexual violence, and the destruction of villages, causing over 700,000 Rohingya to flee to neighboring Bangladesh. This campaign aimed to remove the Rohingya from Myanmar, denying them citizenship and basic rights, and has been widely recognized as ethnic cleansing and genocide. The international community has called for accountability, but much of the violence and repression continue.
