Roberto d'Aubuisson

Roberto d'Aubuisson was a Salvadoran military officer and politician known for his role in the country's civil conflict during the 1980s. He founded the right-wing ARENA party and was associated with violent anti-communist activities. Controversially, he was linked to death squads responsible for human rights abuses, including assassinations. Despite these accusations, he ran for president in 1984 but lost. His legacy is debated—some view him as a staunch defender of stability, while others criticize his involvement in violence and oppressive tactics during a turbulent period in El Salvador's history.
