Robert Wadlow

Robert Wadlow, known as the "Alton Giant," was the tallest person in recorded history. He was born on February 22, 1918, in Alton, Illinois, and reached a height of 8 feet 11 inches (2.72 meters) by the time of his death in 1940. Wadlow's extraordinary height was due to an overactive pituitary gland, which led to an excess of growth hormone. Despite facing numerous health challenges, he was known for his kind personality and was active in his community. Wadlow passed away at the age of 22, but his remarkable story continues to fascinate people today.
