Robert Katzmann is an American jurist who served as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 2009 until his recent passing in 2023. He was known for his thoughtful legal opinions and efforts to promote access to justice, particularly for marginalized communities. Before his judgeship, Katzmann worked as a law professor and in various legal roles, including as a staff member for the Senate Judiciary Committee.
