Robert A. Levy is an American lawyer and scholar known for his work on individual rights and constitutional law. He is a senior fellow at the Cato Institute, a think tank promoting libertarian principles. Levy is perhaps best known for leading the legal fight that resulted in the U.S. Supreme Court striking down major parts of the District of Columbia’s strict gun control laws in the 2008 case District of Columbia v. Heller. His work championed the protection of personal freedoms, especially the right to own and carry firearms, emphasizing the importance of individual liberty in a free society.
