Rivaroxaban

Rivaroxaban is a prescription medication that helps prevent blood clots by blocking a specific protein called Factor Xa, which is important in blood clot formation. It’s commonly used to reduce the risk of stroke in people with irregular heartbeats (afib), treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and pulmonary embolism (PE), or prevent these conditions after surgery. Rivaroxaban works quickly and doesn’t require regular blood tests like some older blood thinners. However, it increases bleeding risk, so it should only be taken under medical supervision. Its goal is to balance reducing clot formation while minimizing bleeding complications.
