Rituxan

Rituxan (rituximab) is a targeted medication used to treat certain autoimmune diseases and types of blood cancer. It works by binding to a specific protein called CD20 on the surface of abnormal or harmful B cells— a type of immune cell. By attaching to these cells, Rituxan helps the immune system recognize and destroy them, reducing disease activity. It’s commonly used for conditions like certain lymphomas, leukemia, rheumatoid arthritis, and other autoimmune disorders. While effective, it can also affect healthy B cells, so healthcare providers carefully monitor its use.
