Risk Society Theory
Risk Society Theory, developed by sociologist Ulrich Beck, suggests that modern societies are increasingly shaped by the production and management of risks, such as environmental hazards, technological dangers, and health threats. Unlike traditional societies where risks were mainly natural or external, today’s risks are often results of human activity and science, making them more complex and uncertain. This shift changes how society perceives, responds to, and distributes these risks, leading to new social challenges, policy debates, and a need for greater awareness and precaution in decision-making.
