RIP Version 1
RIP Version 1 (Routing Information Protocol v1) is an early method used by computer networks to share information about available paths for data to travel. It helps routers (network devices that direct data) learn and maintain the best routes by periodically exchanging simple updates containing network destination addresses and hop counts (steps needed to reach a destination). RIP v1 operates only within a single network or a group of connected networks (a broadcast domain), does not support advanced features like subnetting, and uses a maximum of 15 hops to prevent routing loops. It’s a fundamental, straightforward protocol for network routing.
