Ringatū
Ringatū is a Māori religious movement founded in New Zealand in the late 19th century by Te Kooti Arikirangi. It combines Māori beliefs, Christian teachings, and whakapapa (genealogy), emphasizing spiritual connection, native traditions, and resistance to colonization. Practitioners participate in ceremonies, prayer, and rituals that honor ancestors and seek protection and guidance from spiritual beings. Ringatū fosters cultural identity and resilience among Māori communities while promoting moral values and a sense of collective purpose. It remains an important expression of Māori spirituality and cultural heritage today.
