Right to Education Act (RTE)
The Right to Education Act (RTE), enacted in India in 2009, guarantees free and compulsory education for children aged 6 to 14 years. It aims to ensure that every child has access to quality education, regardless of their background or economic status. The Act mandates that at least 25% of admission seats in private schools are reserved for children from disadvantaged communities, and sets standards for school infrastructure, teacher qualification, and student-teacher ratios. Its objective is to promote equitable access to education, reduce dropout rates, and foster inclusive learning environments.
