Right to Asylum
The right to asylum is a protection granted to individuals fleeing persecution or danger in their home countries. It allows them to seek safety and legal residence in another country where they can rebuild their lives. This persecution could be based on factors like race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group. International treaties, such as the 1951 Refugee Convention, set out the rights of asylum seekers and the responsibilities of countries to provide refuge and not return individuals to places where they face harm.
