Rif War

The Rif War was a conflict between Spain (later joined by France) and Berber tribes in the Rif mountain region of northern Morocco from 1921 to 1927. The indigenous Berbers, led by Abd el-Krim, resisted colonial control and fought fiercely to defend their independence. The war showcased guerrilla tactics and highlighted the difficulties colonial powers faced in governing tough, rugged terrain. Although Spain initially struggled, they eventually used advanced military technology and reinforcements to suppress the rebellion. The conflict resulted in significant casualties and reinforced Spanish control over the region, influencing later anti-colonial sentiments in North Africa.
