Rickettsiology

Rickettsiology is the study of Rickettsia bacteria, which are tiny pathogens that can cause various disease in humans. These bacteria are transmitted mainly through arthropod vectors such as ticks, fleas, and lice. Once inside the human body, they infect the cells lining blood vessels, leading to symptoms like fever, rash, and overall illness. Rickettsiology involves understanding how these bacteria spread, how they infect cells, and how to diagnose, treat, and prevent the diseases they cause, such as typhus and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
