Richard III (Duke of Gloucester)

Richard III, also known as Duke of Gloucester before becoming king, was a nobleman and ruler in 15th-century England. He is most famous for his role in the Wars of the Roses, a conflict between rival royal families. Richard became king in 1483, but his reign was marked by controversy, as many believe he seized the throne through manipulation and possibly treachery. His rule ended in 1485 when he was defeated and killed at the Battle of Bosworth Field by Henry Tudor, who became King Henry VII. Richard III's legacy is often debated, with some viewing him as a villain and others as a victim of his times.
