Richard F. Outcault was an American cartoonist and illustrator, best known for creating the beloved comic strip "The Yellow Kid" in the late 19th century. First published in 1895, it featured a child in a yellow nightshirt, becoming one of the first characters to be recognized as a comic strip star. "The Yellow Kid" is significant in the history of comics for popularizing the use of speech bubbles and for influencing the development of the comic strip medium.
