Richard, Duke of York (1411–1460), was a prominent English noble and a key figure during the Wars of the Roses. He was the son of Richard Plantagenet and became a leading supporter of the royal house of York, advocating for reforms and stronger royal authority. As a military leader, he fought for control of the throne amidst the conflict between the Houses of Lancaster and York. Despite his efforts, he was killed at the Battle of Wakefield. His actions and claims to the throne significantly influenced the period’s political turmoil, shaping the eventual outcome of the civil war.
