Ribosome Structure
A ribosome is a molecular machine inside cells that assembles proteins. It is made up of two main parts called subunits, each composed of proteins and ribosomal RNA (rRNA). These subunits come together during protein synthesis. The ribosome reads genetic instructions from messenger RNA (mRNA) and links together amino acids in the correct order to form a protein. Its structure provides the specific sites for reading the mRNA and attaching amino acids, functioning like a sophisticated factory that translates genetic code into functional proteins essential for life.
