Rhizostoma pulmo, commonly known as the barrel jellyfish, is a large, translucent marine creature found in the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. It has a bell-shaped body that can reach over a meter in diameter, with a milky or bluish hue and eight oral arms extending from the center. It feeds mainly on tiny plankton and small fish, capturing them with stinging cells. Despite its impressive size, it is generally harmless to humans, though its tentacles can deliver a mild sting.
