RHD (right hemisphere damage)

Right Hemisphere Damage (RHD) refers to injury or impairment in the right side of the brain, which often affects skills related to understanding and expressing emotions, recognizing faces, and interpreting visual and spatial information. People with RHD may have difficulty grasping jokes or tone of voice, neglect or overlook parts of their environment, and struggle with tasks that require spatial awareness. This condition can result from strokes, traumatic injuries, or other neurological events. While language production may remain intact, their overall communication, perception, and awareness of their surroundings can be significantly impacted.
