Rhône-Alpes region
Rhône-Alpes was a historic administrative region in southeastern France, known for its diverse landscapes including the Alps’ mountain ranges, fertile plains, and vibrant cities. It was famous for outdoor activities like skiing and hiking, as well as its rich cultural heritage and historic towns such as Lyon, Grenoble, and Annecy. The region also played a vital role in France’s economy, especially in the fields of industry, textiles, and technology. In 2016, Rhône-Alpes merged with Auvergne to form Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, creating a larger region that remains an important hub for innovation, tourism, and natural beauty.
