RFIDs (Radio-Frequency Identification)

RFIDs, or Radio-Frequency Identification, are technology that uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track objects. An RFID system consists of a tiny chip called a tag, attached to the item, and a reader that sends out radio waves. When the reader's signal reaches the tag, the tag responds with stored information, like an ID number. This process happens wirelessly and quickly, allowing for efficient inventory management, access control, and item tracking without direct contact or line-of-sight. RFID enhances automation and accuracy in numerous industries by providing instant identification of objects in various environments.
