Revolutionary United Front (RUF)

The Revolutionary United Front (RUF) was a rebel rebel group that fought in Sierra Leone from the 1990s to early 2000s. Originally formed to challenge the government and address economic issues, the RUF became notorious for brutal tactics, including mass killings, abductions, and especially the use of child soldiers. They also committed widespread atrocities and illegally mined diamonds to finance their activities, fueling a devastating civil war that caused immense suffering and displacement across Sierra Leone. The conflict ended with international intervention and disarmament, leading to peace efforts and reconstruction.
