Revolutionary Guards
The Revolutionary Guards, officially known as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), is an elite military and security force in Iran, established after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Its primary purpose is to protect the country's Islamic system and maintain the regime's authority. The IRGC has its own ground, air, and naval branches, and it operates independently of the regular military. In addition to military duties, it plays a significant role in politics, the economy, and internal security. The Guards are often involved in regional activities, influencing conflicts in the Middle East to support Iranian interests.
