Revolt of 1916
The Revolt of 1916, also known as the Easter Rising, was an armed uprising in Ireland against British rule. Irish nationalists and rebels aimed to establish independence by seizing key locations in Dublin. The rebellion was coordinated over Easter weekend but was quickly suppressed within days. Although it was unsuccessful militarily, it sparked widespread public support for Irish independence and led to the eventual establishment of the Irish Free State. The uprising is seen as a pivotal moment in Ireland’s fight for self-governance and national identity.
