Retinotopy

Retinotopy is the organized way in which our brain maps visual information from our eyes. It means that the layout of what we see in the world is preserved as it is processed in the brain, so neighboring points in our visual field correspond to neighboring areas in the visual cortex. This mapping allows us to perceive a continuous and coherent visual scene, maintaining spatial relationships. Essentially, retinotopy ensures that the spatial structure of our visual environment is kept intact from the eye through to the brain's visual processing areas.
