retinal pathology

Retinal pathology refers to any disease or condition that affects the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye essential for vision. Common issues include diabetic retinopathy, which damages blood vessels from high blood sugar; age-related macular degeneration, affecting central vision in older adults; and retinal detachment, where the retina separates from its underlying tissue, risking permanent vision loss. These conditions can cause symptoms like blurred vision, floaters, or loss of sight, and often require medical evaluation and treatment to prevent or minimize vision impairment.
