Retinal Metastasis

Retinal metastasis refers to the spread of cancer cells to the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. This can occur when cancer from other parts of the body—such as the breast, lung, or melanoma—travels through the bloodstream and forms new tumors in the eye. Symptoms may include blurred vision, floaters, or visual disturbances. Retinal metastasis can indicate advanced cancer and is usually diagnosed through eye examinations and imaging tests. Treatment often focuses on managing underlying cancer and may include radiation therapy or other systemic cancer treatments.
