retinal hemangioblastoma
Retinal hemangioblastoma is a benign (non-cancerous) growth of abnormal blood vessels in the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. It often appears as a highly vascular, reddish lesion and may cause vision problems if it leaks fluid or blood. This condition is frequently associated with a genetic disorder called Von Hippel-Lindau disease. Treatment options include laser therapy or cryotherapy to reduce or remove the tumor, preventing potential damage to the retina and preserving vision. Early detection and management are important to prevent vision loss and monitor for associated systemic conditions.
