Retinal Detachment Surgery
Retinal detachment surgery is a medical procedure aimed at repairing a separation between the retina (the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye) and the underlying tissue. This condition can lead to vision loss if not treated promptly. The surgery typically involves techniques such as laser photocoagulation, which uses focused light to seal tears, or vitrectomy, where the vitreous gel is removed to relieve traction on the retina. A gas bubble may then be placed in the eye to help keep the retina in place. Recovery involves monitoring vision and avoiding certain activities while healing occurs.
