Retail Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT)
A Retail Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) is a company that owns, operates, or finances income-generating retail properties, such as shopping malls, grocery stores, and via retail outlets. Investors buy shares in the REIT, which pool their money to purchase and manage these properties. In return, investors earn a portion of the income generated from rents and leases, typically paid out as dividends. REITs offer a way for individuals to invest in large-scale retail real estate without having to buy and manage properties directly, providing liquidity, diversification, and regular income.
