Reston virus
Reston virus is a type of virus belonging to the Ebola family, but unlike other Ebola viruses, it primarily affects animals like monkeys and pigs, and usually doesn't cause illness in humans. Discovered in 1989 in Reston, Virginia, the virus was found in monkeys imported from the Philippines. Although it can be transmitted from animals to humans, it generally doesn't lead to severe symptoms or outbreaks in people. Reston virus is important for understanding virus transmission and safety in laboratories handling similar pathogens, but it is not considered a significant health threat to humans under normal circumstances.
