restenosis
Restenosis is the re-narrowing of a blood vessel after it has been treated to open it up, such as with a procedure like angioplasty or stenting. When a vessel is widened to improve blood flow, scar tissue or new growth of cells can develop inside the vessel, gradually reducing its diameter again. This can lead to a recurrence of symptoms like chest pain or reduced blood flow. Restenosis is a common challenge in cardiovascular treatments, and doctors may use medications or additional procedures to manage or prevent it.
