Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS)
Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS) is a treatment device implanted in the brain to help control epilepsy seizures. It continuously monitors brain activity and detects abnormal electrical patterns associated with seizures. When detected, it delivers targeted electrical pulses to normalize activity and prevent or reduce the severity of seizures. The RNS system adjusts its responses over time based on the brain's activity, offering a personalized approach. It is designed for people who don’t achieve adequate seizure control with medication alone and aims to improve quality of life by reducing the frequency and impact of seizures.
