Respiratory Tract Infections
Respiratory tract infections (RTIs) are illnesses caused by germs that affect the airways and lungs, including the nose, throat, and bronchial tubes. Common types include the common cold, bronchitis, and pneumonia. Symptoms often involve coughing, runny nose, sore throat, and fever. RTIs can be caused by viruses or bacteria, and they spread easily through coughing or sneezing. Most RTIs are mild and resolve on their own, but some, like pneumonia, can be serious and require medical attention. Maintaining good hygiene, such as washing hands and avoiding close contact with sick individuals, can help prevent these infections.
