resource partitioning

Resource partitioning is when different species or individuals adapt to use different parts or aspects of the same resource to reduce competition. For example, two bird species might feed on the same tree but at different heights or times of day, so they don’t compete directly. This specialization allows multiple species to coexist by dividing the resource, like a shared breakfast table where each person chooses their preferred portion or time. It promotes biodiversity by enabling different organisms to thrive without directly competing for exactly the same resources.
