Resource Curse (theory)
The Resource Curse is a paradox where countries rich in natural resources, like oil or minerals, often experience slower economic growth and development than those without such resources. This happens because resource wealth can lead to economic dependence on volatile markets, weaken other sectors like manufacturing or agriculture, and foster corruption or poor governance. Instead of enabling broad prosperity, resource abundance can create challenges in managing wealth and maintaining political stability, ultimately hindering long-term progress.
