residential parent
A residential parent is the individual with whom a child primarily lives and spends most of their time. This person is responsible for daily care, routines, and decision-making about the child's well-being. In cases of separated or divorced parents, this term helps distinguish the parent who has custody or the child’s main residence, as opposed to a “non-residential” or “non-custodial” parent who may spend less time with the child but still has legal parental rights. The residential parent plays a key role in the child's upbringing and day-to-day life.
