Resident Labour Market Test

A Resident Labour Market Test (RLMT) is a process employers in the UK must follow to show that no suitable resident (local) worker is available before hiring someone from outside the country. This involves advertising the job locally for a set period, such as 28 days, to give local candidates a chance to apply. If no qualified local candidate is found, the employer can then proceed to sponsor a non-resident worker. The RLMT ensures that employment opportunities benefit the local workforce first and maintains fairness in the labor market.
