Research Vessel (RV) Knorr
Research Vessel (RV) Knorr was a specialized ship used for scientific oceanographic research from 1954 until its decommissioning in 2014. Owned by the U.S. Navy and later operated by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, it conducted studies on ocean circulation, climate, and marine ecosystems. The vessel was equipped with advanced laboratories, sampling equipment, and instruments to collect data and samples from various depths. Its missions contributed significantly to understanding global climate patterns, ocean health, and marine geology. After serving for over six decades, the RV Knorr was retired and replaced by more modern research ships to continue scientific exploration of the world's oceans.
