Republican forces

Republican forces refer to the military, paramilitary, or organized groups aligned with the Republican faction involved in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). They supported the democratic Spanish government and included a diverse mix of workers, soldiers, and international volunteers fighting against the Nationalist forces led by General Francisco Franco. The Republicans aimed to defend democracy, implement social reforms, and resist fascist-led authoritarianism. Their effort was marked by collaboration among different political groups, including socialists, communists, and liberals, working collectively to oppose the Nationalist uprising.
