Reproduction Rights Organizations (RROs)
Reproduction Rights Organizations (RROs) are entities that manage and protect the rights of creators and copyright holders by licensing the use of their works, such as music, photos, and videos. They collect fees from users—like broadcasters, publishers, or venues—that want to reproduce or use copyrighted content. In turn, RROs distribute these royalties back to the creators they represent. This system simplifies managing licensing and ensures creators are fairly compensated when their works are reproduced or publicly performed. Examples include organizations like ASCAP, BMI, and SOCAN worldwide.
