Represión
Represión, in a psychological context, refers to the unconscious process of pushing distressing thoughts, feelings, or memories out of conscious awareness to protect oneself from emotional pain. It's a defense mechanism that helps individuals avoid confronting uncomfortable realities, often operating automatically without their full awareness. While it can temporarily reduce anxiety, repressed emotions may resurface later, potentially causing psychological issues. This process is a natural part of the mind's way of coping with trauma or stress, but when overused or unresolved, it may contribute to deeper emotional difficulties.
