Report of the National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders
The Report of the National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders, often called the Kerner Report, was published in 1968 to investigate the causes of riots and unrest across the United States during the 1960s. It identified racism, segregation, economic inequality, and lack of social opportunity as key factors fueling anger among marginalized communities. The report emphasized that systemic discrimination and persistent poverty created a cycle of frustration and violence. It called for major reforms in housing, education, and employment to promote equality and prevent future unrest. The goal was to address root injustices and foster social cohesion.
