The Rengma are an indigenous ethnic group primarily residing in northeastern India’s Nagaland state and parts of Myanmar. They are known for their rich cultural traditions, including distinctive festivals, music, dance, and traditional crafts. The Rengma are mainly engaged in agriculture, cultivating crops like rice and vegetables. They have their own language, also called Rengma, which is part of the Tibeto-Burman language family. As a community, they emphasize kinship ties, community decision-making, and preserve their customs through ceremonies and social practices that strengthen their identity and heritage.
