Renga

Renga is a traditional Japanese collaborative poem that combines multiple poets' stanzas to create a cohesive and flowing composition. Typically composed of alternating sections called "linked verses," it begins with a short stanza (called a "hokku") and evolves through subsequent contributions that build on previous lines, maintaining themes and creating a harmonious narrative or mood. Renga emphasizes spontaneity, imagery, and the interplay of words, often reflecting nature and seasons. It’s seen as both an artistic challenge and a social activity, fostering creativity and shared expression among participants.
