Renewable Portfolio Standards

Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) are regulations set by governments that require energy providers to obtain a certain percentage of their electricity from renewable sources, like wind, solar, and hydro. These standards encourage the use of clean energy and help reduce carbon emissions by gradually increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix. Providers must either generate this renewable energy themselves or purchase credits from others that do. RPS aims to promote environmental sustainability, stimulate innovation in renewable technologies, and support the transition to a more sustainable energy economy.
